Falloon's collectible Ducati bevel book series expands
Author Ian Falloon has expanded his offerings on collectible bevel-drive Ducatis, with the benefit of another two decades of research. Here's what he has to say about them:
In 2001 Original Ducati Sport and Super Sport was published by Motorbooks in the USA, this featuring original unrestored Ducati bevel twins. The book was one of the “Original” series and was only produced in a single print run. But while it was a beautiful publication much of the information is now outdated.
With the benefit of twenty years research and access to many more original bikes and factory data I am now offering updated versions of this “Original” book. Unlike the first edition that was only 128 pages and covered all 750, 900 and Mille models, each model will now be more comprehensively covered in individual titles.
The Ducati 750/900 Super Sport book is 98 pages (25 x 20cm), and follows the 54-page Ducati 750 GT and 50-page Ducati 750 Sport books. A companion Mike Hailwood Replica book is planned for 2022.
As the most recent addition to the series, the 750/900 Super Sport book describes 15 model types in detail, with dates of manufacture and corresponding engine and frame numbers. As it is the result of more recent research much of this information is new and differs from my other publications.
If you want to know exactly when the engine types switched from Ducati Elettrotecnica to Bosch ignition I have finally ascertained the changeover. In previous books I haven’t been able to break down and describe the Super Sport in as many different variants.
